Please let us know what you think...
Grow Nairn is a group of people from Nairn that plan to start a community market garden managed as a social enterprise. Harnessing common good land we aim to supply fresh food to the Nairn community.
We aim to create an organisation that reflects the needs of the Nairn community. We value community action and inclusion, and we want to know what matters to you. If you've got a couple of minutes free, please consider completing our engagement survey below.

Food for thought
Have a wee look over our organisation's aims before answering our survey questions below:
Our Social Aims
Nairn’s market garden will be led and managed by our community. It will be a place for those with an interest in sustainable, healthy food to come together.
Growing food locally improves our community’s food resilience. We will reduce the dependence of our community on unsustainable food systems.
We will partner with local organisations that support those in our community experiencing food insecurity targeting those who would most benefit and reducing the cost of boxes where possible. And our community will benefit from locally grown food, which is chemical-free, benefiting their health and wellbeing.
There will be a variety of volunteering opportunities and social events, supporting our community to connect with each other and the food they eat.
Education and skills development in sustainable food production will be offered through horticulture training and apprenticeships. We will develop partnerships with other local organisations to offer collaborative projects that reach wider into the Nairn community.

Our Environmental Aims
Our market garden food production will be managed through sustainable food growing practices, following organic principles and investing in the biodiversity of our land and ecosystem. We will plant a community woodland and orchard between the garden and the main road.
We will regenerate the soil, planting for the benefit of wildlife, (encouraging pollinators and natural predators) and the benefit of soil enhancement, (creating organic compost and mulches that will add nutrients to the food we grow).

Our Business Aims
We will employ 3 staff members (2FTE) to manage and deliver operations. By year 5 we will be cultivating 2 hectares of land and producing 80 weekly veg boxes, supplying local cafes and restaurants and a farm shed shop, as well as processing surplus and abundant crops into jams and chutneys. We will have an annual turnover of around £80-£90,000.
